FIRST AID LEVEL 1 SCHOOL STAFF


Description
This course follows the curriculum - SAQA UNIT STANDARD 119567- PERFORM BSIC LIFE SUPPORT & FIRST AID PROCEDURES and has been tailored to the school environment.

This UNIT STANDARD is designed to offer a basic introduction to trauma and medical emergencies and the actions one should take in response to such situations.

At the conclusion of the course, the course participant will be proficient at identifying and treating many of the basic injuries and illnesses, which may present during everyday life.

Course Syllabus:
• Basic Principals of First Aid
• Relative associated Law
• CPR (Adult, Child & Infant)
• Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Respiratory Emergencies; Choking (Adult, child & Infant), Asthma & difficulty Breathing.
• Basic Shock identification and Management
• Unconsciousness & Fainting
• Sudden Illnesses; Heart attack, Stroke, Diabetes and Seizures
• Wounds & Bleeding
• Musculo-skeletal injuries; Strains, Sprains, Fractures and Dislocations
• Burns
• Head Injuries and Concussion
• Neck and Spinal Injuries
• Environmental Injuries - Poisoning, Human and Animal Bites, Bee stings and Drowning.

Testing & Certification:
Written Test
Skills competency testing with Simulation practices
Portfolio of Evidence – Formative Assessment

(Certificate Valid for 3 years)

1stCPR is an accredited RESUSCITATION COUNCIL OF SOUTHERN AFRICA Training centre, as such should additional certificates be required for Discovery Vitality or CPR & AED specific purposes these can be added into the course fee.
